I guess, to gauge a blog's health whether it is more than much alive than human beings is the readers participation in your blog such as commenting and sharing their thoughts on the topics discussed. Not only that readers can engage in the blog post, there are tons of informations that you can get when other people share their thoughts as well.
Readers can also get their attention for other people to take the time to visit your blog if they find that your comments are very useful. Which is why commenting in a proper manner and provide useful comments pays the bill. Just kidding. Who knows that they might leave a thank you note and follow you as well.
